India’s Graceful right-handed batsman, Kohli is regarded as one of the best batsmen in the world. Kohli, who is currently leading India has reached the milestone of scoring 2k runs in T20 and is the first Indian male cricketer to do so.
Kohli is the quickest to get to the 2000-run mark in the shortest format. He took only 60 matches and 56 innings to enter the club. This is another achievement for the Indian captain, who has the second most ODI hundreds after Sachin Tendulkar.
Sachin’s records and Virat’s future-
The Indian skipper is likely to break certain records in future.
Kohli is the fastest batsman to reach 27 centuries in ODIs, having taken 169 innings to do so. Sachin Tendulkar, the second fastest behind Kohli, needed 254 innings to reach 27 centuries.
Kohli has also equalled Tendulkar's record of scoring a total of 17 centuries during a chase. The cricketer from Delhi, however, has taken just 96 innings to reach the feat, compared to Tendulkar's 232.
He can break many records of Sachin Tendulkar in future, some of them are-
• Fastest to 30, 40, 50 centuries in ODI- Sachin scored his 25th ton in his 240th innings. Kohli has reached there in 162!
• Most ODI centuries while chasing-Sachin had 17. Kohli has 15 already.
• Highest ODI average while chasing- 61.22 currently and one of the highest already.
• Most often more than 1000 runs in a calendar year in ODIs: Sachin did it 7 times. Kohli has already achieved it 4 times.
• Fastest to 50 international tons (including Tests, ODIs and T20s)-And beyond. Sachin reached that mark in 375 innings. Kohli has 36 from 266 international innings right now.
The Pakistani cricket legend Javed Miandad said: “Kohli is a genius who is the best batsman in the world”.
“In Virat Kohli’s case his batting method is what allows him to score runs not just once but almost every time he comes in to bat. If a batsman’s technique is bad, he can put some runs on the board occasionally, but he will not be able to do that consistently which is exactly true in Kohli’s case. To me the mark of a great batsman, like Kohli is the fact that he can vary his technique by quickly understanding the strengths and weaknesses of the bowlers,” he said.
Virat’s Team and World Cup 2019-
As of now, Virat Kohli remains in a great form, he and his team have a potential to win World Cup 2019.
There is no doubt that India will enter the World Cup 2019 as one of the favourite team to win the World Cup. The strength of India have had been batting from starting, but these days Indian bowler is also efficacious, meticulous and incorrigible, Indian bowler is capable to win World Cup trophy for India. In recent times, India has had in miraculous form.
Well under Kohli’s captaincy, India has achieved a lot. Unfortunately, we lost the champion trophy finals against our arch-rivals Pakistan. But besides that, we have achieved Test No 1 and ODI No 2 rank in ICC Rankings. And recently the victory of team India in T20 series against England that too in England was just magnificent. With the recent triumphs of the team, there still a hope that India can win the upcoming world cup.
Indian cricket team, led by Virat Kohli, will be the favourite to lift next year's One-Day International (ODI) World Cup in England, former opener Virender Sehwag said on Friday.
Virat is indeed one of the greatest batsmen of all time. He has his own class. Having in mind his excellent fitness and ability to adapt to all formats without any fuss, it will not come as a surprise if he ends up owning most batting records by the time he brings the curtain down on his career.
